JustOne | Justice powered by technology

JustOne is the central case management and workflow platform for the Belgian justice system. The platform was first introduced at the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance and today supports the entire Public Prosecution Service, including the public prosecutor’s offices at the courts of first instance, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Auditor General’s Office. The Police Prosecutor’s Office will follow.

More recently, courts and tribunals have also started working with JustOne. The criminal law module is now live, with judges and court clerks using it to manage their cases every day. The civil law module is being developed in parallel and rolled out in phases.

For the first time, this brings the two dimensions of a judicial case together on a single platform. When a case is transferred from the public prosecutor’s office to the court for adjudication, it remains within the same environment. There is no need to re-enter information or manually reconstruct data, ensuring that nothing is lost during the transition.

From prosecution to court

JustOne currently serves two user groups with different needs. The Public Prosecution Service leads the criminal justice process, while courts and tribunals handle both criminal and civil cases.

This shared foundation enables information and processes to be reused, maximising efficiency.

JustOne is built around the daily tasks of judges, prosecutors, court clerks and administrative staff, with a UX/UI approach designed to work at scale. Users can get started with minimal guidance, making rollout across hundreds of departments manageable.

JustOne started with the public prosecutor’s office, which remains the driving force behind the criminal justice process. What’s new is that our case files no longer stop at the courtroom door. That changes how we think about functionality: we’re no longer building for a single user group, but for a seamless flow of cases.

It is a connected experience

All relevant applications required by a court are connected to JustOne. External databases, such as the GGB (Common Database for Terrorism, Extremism and the Radicalisation Process), can also be accessed via JustOne. The aim is to make all possible authentic and other data sources available through standardised integrations.

We process 85% of legal casework

Since 2020, we have been working on an optimised product in which all applications are integrated into a single solution suite for the Justice system, where approximately 10,000 users will process 85% of Belgium’s legal casework.

There is also a front-office application

We are expanding our product with JustProtect, a front-office application that serves as a portal for the Central Register for the Protection of Persons. Through this e-counter, citizens, lawyers, institutions and Justice employees can easily exchange information as part of the procedure.

We strive for an innovative mindset

Today, we act as a primary facilitator between the various stakeholders in the digital evolution of the Justice system, bringing technology and legal processes together.

The focus is on the 3 core tasks of judicial transformation: technological innovation, adapting to changed processes and advanced digitalisation.

Judges and court clerks are already using JustOne in their daily work. This is no longer a pilot project. The criminal law module is live, and we’re developing the civil law module alongside it. The real strength lies not in the extra features we provide, but in the manual work they no longer have to do.
