A faster and more reliable inspection system at Quality Control Department
Supervision of quality and food safety
Better control
Quality Control Department is an independent administrative body that focuses on the inspection of fresh vegetables and fruit, cut flowers, and potted plants traded in the Netherlands. As a supervisory authority, KCB The Netherlands plays an important role in maintaining the quality of vegetables, fruit, and plant health, as well as ensuring compliance with (inter)national regulations. They do this with around 50 staff members at the headquarters in Zoetermeer, and over 150 inspectors spread across the Netherlands.
Two powerful applications
The Microsoft experts at Bridg have been collaborating with the Dutch organisation since 2020 to digitise their inspection process.
To make the inspections more manageable, we together developed two bespoke powerful applications: a back-office system (BOSS) and a tablet app (MIA) for the inspectors.
Together, they form a single integrated platform that supports the entire process, from application to completion. Features were developed, tested, and rolled out step by step.
An improved user experience
one inspection system, two components
The back-office system receives new inspection requests (import and export) and supervision checks, processes them, and automatically schedules them. The user-friendly tablet application assists inspectors in the field with conducting checks: they can, among other things, fill out questionnaires, scan barcodes, check documents, take photos, and record signatures. After completion, all information is consolidated and picked up by the back-office system, which then handles invoicing, reporting, and case follow-up.
